Job Description: Bookkeeper
The Bookkeeper is the day-to-day manager of M&BPN's fiscal records. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper maintains all fiscal records with confidentiality and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Bookkeeper must:
a) Be familiar with, and manage accounting programs of the agency; ensure appropriate chart of accounts and accurate allocation of income and expense according to program, division, or other designation.
b) Monitor all expenditures and prepare reports as necessary, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports for administration and Board of Directors.
c) Assist Executive Director (& BOD Finance Committee) with development of annual agency budget.
d) Assist - as directed by the Executive Director - the Board Officers and the Finance Committee, staff meetings of the Finance Committee (record and prepare written minutes reflecting committee business and actions)..
e) Know and comply with the agency's Finance policy; ensure approved protocols are followed.
f) Assist with agency's annual audit - prepare all financial information in advance of auditor's on-site review, provide back-up documentation as required, and comply with all regulations as required by law, agency contracts and the administration.
The Bookkeeper will manage: bi-weekly payroll processing, agency revenue and expenditures, all grant programs contract and vouchering processes, conference/event registration, agency donor database and coordinate special projects and other fiscal related duties as requested.
Areas of Expertise:
- Knowledge and experience in general business accounting procedures.
- Strong mathematic and organizational skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge and experience with information systems programs and operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related degree with three to five years relevant experience, preferably with grants management and/or non-profit accounting. Associate's Degree considered with extensive experience.
- Computer program applications: word processing systems and accounting programs: Fund Easy, Excel, Quick Books, One Write, or other accounting software programs.
THE POSITION OF BOOKKEEPER IS A FULL-TIME, EXEMPT POSITION.
